Dr Stacey Compton is the Medical Director of Queensland Sports Physicians, and the Queensland RED-S and Athlete Performance Clinic.

Dr Compton is a Sports and Exercise Medicine Physician, with a special interest in relative energy deficiency in sport, bone stress injuries, menstrual disturbance in athletes (including amenorrhoea), endurance sports, dance medicine, and paediatric sports medicine.

Dr Compton has also been a registered Physiotherapist since 2005, having graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Exercise Science. Dr Compton brings together a combination of medical, physiotherapy and exercise science skills to the practice of sports medicine.

Dr Compton is currently the Chief Medical Officer for the Australian Triathlon and Paratriathlon Teams, Doctor to the Queensland Academy of Sport Softball and Triathlon program, and consults to a number of other sporting programs, including the Queensland Ballet Academy, Brisbane Roar Football Academy, and Queensland Rugby Sevens.

In addition to these roles, Dr Compton has worked extensively with community rugby teams. She has provided medical coverage of Rugby Union matches at the Premier, NRC, ARU and QRU junior representative level. She has also been part of the concussion team for the Wallabies at their Brisbane based matches, and provided medical coverage for Intrust Super Cup Rugby League matches, and AFLW matches.

Other previous sports medicine experience and events coverage includes Club Doctor to Brisbane Roar A-League and Y-League teams, Commonwealth Games 2018, Brisbane International Tennis, Swimming Australia Nationals and Grand Prix, elite cricket, ITU medical director for elite triathlon racing, marathon coverage and numerous Paralympic sporting events. Dr Compton has also worked in the Australian Institute of Sport Medical Department, supporting athletes in the residential programs and training camps.

To Dr Compton, supporting the management of any patient’s injury or illness is as important as assisting an elite athlete’s return to competition. Dr Compton takes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. She collaborates with her patients’ practitioners to develop personalized treatment and management plans, and believes this tailored approach, together with accurate diagnosis best allows an early return to sport, exercise and work.
